Chapter Two: The Presence of Spirit
Zam’s passing marked the end of her physical presence, but it was far from the end of her connection with Kim. In the days and weeks that followed, Zam’s energy continued to be made known in ways that were subtle yet unmistakable. For Kim, these moments were not only comforting but also a reminder of the unbreakable bond they shared.
“She’s still here,” Kim says, her voice steady but soft. “Not in the way she used to be, but in ways that feel just as real.”
One of the most striking signs came just days after Zam’s passing. Kim was sitting in the garden, her thoughts drifting as she gazed at the big tree where Zam’s ashes rested. A soft breeze swept through the branches, and for a moment, Kim felt a warmth settle over her shoulders. It wasn’t the sun or the air. It was Zam. “It felt like a hug,” Kim recalls. “Like she was saying, ‘I’m still with you.’”
Another moment came while Kim was working on her novel. Writing had always been a sanctuary for her, but in the days following Zam’s transition, it became a lifeline. One afternoon, as she stared at the blinking cursor, unsure how to continue, she felt a familiar nudge. It wasn’t physical, but it was undeniable. “It was like she was saying, ‘Keep going. You’ve got this,’” Kim says with a small smile. “I could almost see her holding up one of those cartoon signs: ‘Write your book!’”

These moments of connection didn’t just happen when Kim was still. Sometimes they appeared in the most ordinary parts of her day. A synchronistic encounter, a sudden memory that brought clarity, or even the feeling of Zam’s presence when Kim walked past the big tree. “It’s like she’s woven into my life in a new way,” Kim says. “Not as a physical presence, but as a guide, a part of me.”
These signs helped Kim navigate her grief. It wasn’t the heavy, suffocating grief she had expected. Instead, it felt light, almost buoyant. “I miss her physical presence,” Kim admits. “But the connection we have now… it’s so pure. There’s no guilt, no ‘what ifs.’ Just love.”

Zam’s presence also deepened Kim’s trust in animal communication. “She’s still teaching me,” Kim says. “Every nudge, every sign is a reminder to listen, to trust, to stay open. It’s like she’s saying, ‘The work doesn’t stop here.’”
Insight:
Connection doesn’t end with physical separation. Pay attention to the subtle ways your animal may be communicating with you - a feeling, a memory, or even a synchronistic event. Trust that these moments are real and meaningful.

I have 2 horses that passed in 2015 and 2 dogs that passed a couple of years before that. They all come to me at times to show me the way. One of my horses came back and allowed be to ride her again in order to tell me it was OK to ride horses again. What a gift all of the animals are to me. So glad Zam is doing that for her owner.
Lovely! Thank you!
